A Day in Budapest

In Budapest, we stayed in a guest house that belongs to Central European University. The guest house was located just below Castle Hill in Buda. It was a lovely apartment with a great playground just across the street.

We went back to Castle Hill the morning after our dinner with Gabor and Marina to spend some time in Matthias Church, a 700 year old Roman Catholic church. It underwent a major renovation at the end of the 19th century so its walls are decorated in a lovely art nouveau style.

Here's a shot of Grigo and the girls from Castle Hill with the Danube and Parliament behind them.

After going back to the guest house to get dressed for our talks, the whole family walked to Pest across the Danube on the Chain Bridge.

Here we are in front of St. Stephen's Basilica. At this point, Lia was pretty grumpy and didn't want her picture taken.

But, of course, she eventually warmed up. . .

Grigo and I then gave back to back talks at CEU, handing off the girls in between. Here are Rica and Lia watching me give my talk. And, yes, I was quite aware of the two little giggling girls making faces at me while I tried to take questions from the audience.
